Ingredients:

  • 3 cups rice
  • 1 cup ragi
  • 1 cup split green gram (Moong Dal)
  • 1/2 cup split Red gram (Tuar Dal)
  • 1/4 cup split red lentil (Masoor Dal)
  • 1/4 cup split black gram (Udid Dal)
  • 1/8 cup split bengal gram ( Chana Dal)
  • 2 tbsp coriander seeds (Dhane)
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp carom seeds (Ajwain\Owa)
  • 2 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 3-4 black pepper
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 3-4 cloves

Method:

  1. Roast each and every ingredient separately on medium flame. (If time permits, you can wash grams and rice and dry it and then start with these steps. This will definitely enhance the taste.)
  2. Cool them and mix all together well.
  3. Grind this till powder or as per babies choice. (younger babies prefer powder. However, as they grow up they can be introduced to more textured food)
  4. This powder has 2-3 months of shelf life.
  5. As and when you want to feed baby, roast this powder in ghee, add water, salt, sugar(optional) and cook it well.
  6. Another option could be directly adding it to boiling water along with salt for taste and cook it well.
  7. This powder can be cooked numerous ways as per your baby's taste and it does not take more than 10 minutes to cook.
