Yield: 3 Servings
Preparation Time: 5 mins
Standing Time: 30 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins

Ingredients:
  • 3-3 1/4 cup sliced onion
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2-3 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp carom seeds (ajawain)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • pinch of asafoetida
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 cup gram flour (Besan)
  • oil for frying

Method:
  1. Mix all ingredients except oil and besan. Keep it aside for at least 20-25 mins.
  2. Since we have added sugar and salt to onion, water comes out of it.
  3. Add Besan little at a time till it gets absorbed. Do not add water. If you want, add 2-3 tbsp of water. Mix well.
  4. Heat oil in pan. Take 1-2 tbsp of hot oil from pan and add it to pakora batter.
  5. Deep fry 3-4 pakoras at a time on medium flame till they get brown and crispy.
  6. Serve hot with ketchup or tamarind chutney.
