Ingredients:
- 1 cup cracked wheat / Dalia/ Lapashi Rava
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup jaggery
- 3 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
- 1/4 assorted dry fruits slivered (raisins, almonds, cashew nuts, pistachios)
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
Method:
- Heat ghee in pan. Add cracked wheat. At the same time, heat 2 cups of water in vessel.
- Roast cracked wheat on medium flame till golden brown color.
- Add hot water to nicely roasted cracked wheat. Cover the pan and let it cook.
- Take jaggery and remaining 1 cup of water in another vessel. Heat this mixture till jaggery dissolves completely. Keep on stirring in between to fasten the process.
- Check if water in lapashi pan got absorbed and rava has been cooked partially.
- Add jaggery water and dry fruits to this. Mix it and cover it till rava gets cooked completely. Dry fruits also gets cooked during this time.
- Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder at the end. Mix them well.
- Your healthy breakfast\ snack is ready..... Serve hot.
Tip:
- Cooking on medium flame is important as if rava is not cooked properly, it ruins the taste.
- If you feel water added is too much and rava is already cooked then keep on stirring on high flame till water gets absorbed.
