Ingredients:
- 1 cup rawa/ sooji/ semolina
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 7-8 chopped green chillies
- 7-8 curry leaves
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp ground nuts
- 2 tbsp pandharpuri dal / Udad dal (optional)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- pinch of asafoetida
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 cups of water
- salt to taste
For Garnishing:
- 4 tbsp coriander leaves
- 4 tbsp thin sev
Method:
- Roast rawa on medium flame till golden brown. Add a spoon of ghee/ oil while roasting. Keep it aside. Keep water on heat for boiling.
- Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds. Let them crackle. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
- Add curry leaves, chillies. Stir them for 30 seconds.
- Add onion, dal, ground nuts(peanuts) and salt. Sauté till onion gets translucent.
- Add sugar, lemon juice, turmeric powder. Mix it and add hot water to this.
- Cover the pan for 4-5 minutes. Let it boil for some time.
- Add rawa to this and stir continuously till everything gets mixed well.
- Switch off the flame when desired consistency achieved. Let Upith cover for another 5 minutes.
- Serve hot garnishing with thin sev and coriander leaves.
