Vanilla Sponge Cake

Yield: one 9 inch Cake
Preparation Time:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar (powdered sugar is preferred)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (Salted butter will also do. Adjust salt accordingly.)
  • 1/8 + 1/16 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs

Method:
  1. Beat eggs very well. This step is important as it will affect end result.
  2. Add Sugar and beat until mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and just combine it.
  4. In separate bowl, sift all dry ingredients and them to egg batter. Beat till only it gets combined.
  5. Heat milk and butter till butter gets melted. Microwave can be used for 15-20 secs for this.
  6. Add it to the mixture and combine well.
  7. Pour this batter into greased and floured cake pan
  8. Bake at 325 degree F for 30-35 minutes. Cake can be tested with toothpick. If it is inserted into center comes out clean, cake is ready to come out of oven.
  9. Put it for at least 10 minutes.
  10. Our yummy Vanilla Sponge Cake is ready to eat.
