Whole Wheat Lemon Sponge Cake

Yield: one 6 inch Cake
Preparation Time:

35 mins


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3 tbsp whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/16 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

Method:
  1. Beat eggs well. This step is important as it will affect end result.
  2. Add Sugar and beat until mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and just combine it.
  4. In separate bowl, sift all dry ingredients and them to egg batter. Beat till only they get combined.
  5. Heat milk and butter till butter gets melted.
  6. Add it to the mixture and combine well.
  7. Pour this batter into greased and floured cake pan
  8. Bake at 325 degree F for 30-35 minutes. Test if cake is ready by inserting toothpick at center comes out clean.
  9. Cool it for at least 10 minutes.
